Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

At the last gathering at Hougang Mall in July 2007, Jerry TSH shared with me that he goes climb/walk BTNR on Thursdays after work with his colleagues. Believe this, they do it weekly except for rain. It does not take alot of time. By 7pm they are down at the foot of BTNR.It is just a short climb/walk. Short climb/walk, but body is exercised, relaxed & one enjoy the nature around....and enjoy each other company.

So...Charltonees...anyone out there game for a climb/walk?

We can do it on a Saturday morning and see how it work out.
Who knows? As BL said, it may be a start of a fun thing
to do regularly, say once a month, twice.....whatever

So Jerry, over to you...

Photo from David

The former National Theatre & Van Cleef Aquarium
I recalled I went there for election briefing (worked as clerk at the polling station) when there was election. When it rained, we can get wet cause it is 'open surroundings'. The aquarium was small and not much fish tanks but it was the thing that time & it was a treat to be there to enjoy looking at the fishes and getting wet by standing near the water fountain. This remain me of today's fountain at Bugis Junction where kids get wet playing with the water!

Ms Lau + Lay = a game of tennis

During our gathering with Ms Lau, she shares with us that she plays tennis.
We can join her if we are keen. I took up the offer and is now playing with her.

Don't play play, Ms Lau is good at tennis, skillful strokes and her service are aces.
Just as when I was in school, I learnt from her.
Now at the tennis court, I am learning from her.
活到老, 学到老

Anyone out there for tennis?

ICE- In Case of Emergency

Isn't it true that we all carry our mobile phones with hundreds of names/numbers stored in its memory but yet nobody, other than ourselves, know which of these numbers belong to our near and dear ones?
ICE
Let us for a moment create a scenario wherein we are involved in an accident or had a heart attack and the people attending us get hold of our mobile phone but don't know which number to call to inform our family members.

Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? For this reason, we must have one or more telephone numbers stored under the name ICE (In case of Emergency) in our mobile phones.

Recently, the concept of "ICE" is catching up quickly. It is simple, an important method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or person who should be contacted at during emergency as "ICE" (meaning In Case of Emergency ).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose.

Following a disaster in London , the East Anglican Ambulance Service has launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)"campaign. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would then be able to quickly contact your next of kin, by simply dialing the number stored as "ICE".

Let's hear from BL

Many Things to Thank For!

Thank you Lord for my wife who is always busy in the house,
This meant she is home and not out shopping and spending money.
Thank you Lord for my husband who is a couch potato,
This meant he is home and not out at a bar with some honey.

Thank you Lord that each day I have to scream
And wake up the children and get them to school,
This meant that I have been blessed with children
And each day my hours spent are joyous and meaningful.

Thank you Lord for my teenager who is always on the internet
This meant that she is home, and not roaming with bad hats.

Thank you Lord for an office to go and have a boss
This meant that I have a job, not idling and feeling lost.

Thank you Lord that I am not anxious about the future,
That I forget the present, and live life without cheer.

Thank you Lord for the gift to earn money and be wealthy
And need not see doctors to spend money to stay healthy.

Thank you Lord for the many outings I have to attend
This meant that I have friends to joke and play pranks.

Thank you Lord that my life has been rich and fulfilling
Not that I have everything but that I lack nothing.

Thank you Lord that I have a bed
That I can sleep soundly each night;
This meant that I have a blessed home
Resting & knowing that everything is all right.

Thank you Lord when the alarm screams each morning,
It means that I have not lost my hearing!
Hallelujah, I am still alive for another day!
