during that gloomy but sunny morning assembly
the boys waited for their doom.

one hand up with the cane
and next strike each boy's palm twice.
the entire school witnessed in silence
as Mr Banda continuously strike.
but the boys knew no pain
for deep in their hearts
comradeship warms them.
BTW, could that guy please identify yourself
cause it has been 44 years
since that strike of cane!

Were all the boys caned or some of the boys who were near her when the incident took place?
shirley khoo: maybe some of them dont even rememeber this incident anymore cos they had taken it as part and parcel of their childhood schooling experiences. Aiyo.....if this happens in this era....all hell will break loose ar. Parents will involve themselves with the principal etc. During those days no student would dare tell on their teachers / principals.

If Banda time - could not be 12 yr old (Pr 6) or was it? So long ago. Too young to understand word like love, nobility, comradeship - not in the vocab yet. More understandly, it is the fear of being bashed up,ostracised and isolated for speaking up. Much regretted too that the girls who saw the incident chose to remain silent too - u girls were equally in the wrong and need to share the cane as well (u could have spared your darling boys the pain).
shirley khoo ; Oi david why U blame the girls ley??? blame the prankster for not owning up thereby getting some other innocent boys into getting spanked as well........as a matter of curiousity, were U one of the innocent ones that kena caned??
Chin Keng: I can't recall this incident at all..
Were we caned on the palm or buttock? Cant remember also.
